Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy describes how Neurum (the site neurum.ioand the Chrome extension “Neurum: keep your knowledge”) handles your data. It is written in plain language, and it covers both in the same way.

What we collect

Your account: your email address and a password, stored securely by our authentication provider. Your content: the links, texts and passages you choose to save as Neurons, the files you upload (such as photos and PDFs), and the notes, highlights and categories you create. Nothing is saved without an action from you: pasting a link, clicking save, selecting a passage, choosing a file.

How we use it

We use your data only to provide the service: keeping your knowledge, organizing it into themes, connecting ideas and letting you search. The content you save is sent to an AI model (through OpenRouter) to generate the summary, the key points, the theme and the vector representation used for search and connections. We do not use your content for anything else, and we do not use it to train models of our own.

The Chrome extension

The extension reads the current tab only when you click its icon, in order to capture the title, the address and the text of the page (or the passage you selected) and send it to Neurum as a Neuron. It does not run in the background, it does not follow your browsing, and it never reads a page without an action from you. Your login session is stored locally in your browser so you do not have to sign in on every save. The extension contacts a single domain, our own backend.

Where the data lives

Your data is stored with Supabase (database, authentication and file storage). Each person can only see and change what is theirs, enforced at the database level through Row Level Security. Uploaded files live in a private bucket, reachable only through your own account.

Sharing

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties for advertising. The only services that process data on our behalf are our infrastructure (Supabase) and our AI provider (OpenRouter), strictly to make the product work.

Your rights

At any moment you can export your entire web as JSON or delete everything, from your Profile inside the app. Deleting your account removes your associated data. If you would rather ask us, write to the address below and we will do it for you.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top, and tell you by email before the change takes effect.
